Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a skin condition which seems to be passed down through families. However it doesn't matter whether someone is a carrier of genetic predisposition or not, because mainly the lifestyle and the diet trigger the symptoms.

Symptoms of the Psoriasis:

  • Red, flaky patches of skin with silvery scales
  • Dry, thick, itchy skin
  • Salmon pink skin
  • Thick nails, yellow-brown nails, dents in the nail, and nail lifts off from the skin underneath
  • Severe dandruff on the scalp

Causes of Psoriasis:

The epidermis (outer layer of the skin) is constantly producing new cells and shedding old ones. It takes about 28 days. In psoriasis, this process is too fast: 4 or 5 days. It means the skin producing new cells, but it doesn't shed the old ones, so dead skin cells build up on the skin's surface.

Triggers of psoriasis may be:

  • Toxins in the body
  • Disruption of bacterial flora
  • Digestion, stomach and intestinal problems, malabsorption problems
  • Inadequate diet (too much milk, sugar, refined foods, too little raw vegetables, fruits, seeds, sprouts, grains)
  • Psychological problems ("I don't feel good in my skin")
  • Vitamin deficiency
  • Mineral deficiencies
  • Week immune system
  • Acidification of the body
  • Stress

Treatments:

  • Avoid sugar
  • Avoid milk and lower the ammount of other dairy products
  • Avoid any refined and semi-prepared foods
  • Avoid any types of margarine
  • Reducing the consumption of animal protein (meat, eggs and other dairy products) by 12%
  • Avoid acidic food
  • Change the harmful skin care products to natural
  • Take Omega 3 and vitamin B complex
  • Eat lots of raw vegetables, fruits, sprouts and seeds
  • Do a gentle detoxification

I don't suggest exfolation the skin in this case. Exfoliation is kind of a trauma to the skin and can make psoriasis worse. Physical exfoliation can cause irritation, open wounds and bleeding in the areas where psoriasis resides.

Externally you can use shea butter or evening primrose oil with a little lavender-and teatree oil.

Treatment for itchy scalp:

Add 1 L water, 1 tbsp (organic) apple cider vinegar, 5 drops lavender oil and 5 drops tea tree oil in a bowl. Mix them and soak a cotton pad with this mixture. Wipe the scalp with it. Avoid contact with eyes. In addition, you can rub evening primrose oil into the scalp. Leave it on and later wash your hair with shampoo.

And an interesting thing: Kim Kardashian was being diagnosed with psoriasis.
